COMMUNITY Dell Rapids Tribune Wednesday, February 26, 2014 7A Sara Lea Schmidt, 46 Roxi Rollinger, 60 PI from St. Mary's High School in Dell Rapids in 1985, Lake Area Tech in 1987, and Roxi Rollinger, 60, of Sioux Falls, died peacefully at her home with her loving family and friends at her side on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, following a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. While her illness will not de- i make you smile with her cheery attitude. Sara gave birth to her pride and joy, Cody, on April 26, 1995.

She married Wayne Schmidt and gained a stepdaughter, Megan, on June 23, 2001, and moved to White where they made their home until the time of her death. Despite her health issues, Sara took every opportunity to enjoy her life to the fullest. She loved to spend time with her close friends playing games, doing crafts, talking, or just watching movies. She enjoyed the family camping trips, baking her holiday treats, and enjoying the company of her faithful furry friends Mickey, Oreo, and Abby. She had many health issues having her husband Wayne, son Cody, parents, and many friends by her side gave her great courage to handle everything with a smile and positive outlook.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne, and son, Cody, of White; step-daughter, Megan Schmidt-Guss (Jeremy); granddaughter, Lilley, of Wahiawa, Hawaii; parents, Buzz and Pat Huewe of Dell Rapids, S.D.; brother, Sam (Melinda) of Brandon, S.D.; nieces and nephews; and pet dogs, Mickey, Oreo, and Abby. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jake and Leona Huewe, and Irene McEneaney. Sara Lea Schmidt, 46, died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at her home in White, S.D. Funeral services were Saturday, Feb.

22, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in White, with interment in Fairview Cemetery at White. Visitations will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the church. Eidsness Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Sara was born March 31, 1967, and was chosen by Pat and Buzz Huewe to be a part of their family.

As a child, she had a love for taking care of all her rabbits, dogs, and she was even spoiled enough to have a horse in her backyard. She graduated line nei, sue will be Minnesota West Community Tech in 2009. Sara worked many years helping the elderly; she found great self-worth in helping people. She had an amazing gift to comfort people who were struggling with life by giving a simple helping hand, a big smile, and using her gift to talk, talk, and talk some more. She had a way that it didn't matter how bad of a day you were having, she could of the lawn, caring for her dog (Jersey), cross-stitching, being at the lake, and spending time with her family and friends.

She cherished her family and the opportunity to spend time with them. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Gene Rollinger, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sons, Josh (Dawn) Rollinger of Billings, Mont. and Telly (Brooke) Rollinger of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one daughter, Abby (Jesse) McAmis of Williston, N.D.; five grandchildren; four sisters, Lexie (Terry) Walker of Casa Grande, Shirlee (Dan) Moran and Karen (Clark) Miller, both of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Marlene (Larry) Kuhn-ert of Brandon, S.D.; and one brother, Randy (Trudy) Hartman of Baltic, S.D. Roxi was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Kathy Gul-brandson and Terri Hartman Olson and her beloved dog, Cokie.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at First United Methodist Church. Private interment will take place at Hills of Rest Memorial Park. In lieu of flower, memorials may be designated to: First United Methodist Church Sioux Falls. Nick J.

Van Dam, 85 Nick J. Van Dam, 85, of Dell Rapids passed away on Monday, Feb 17, 2014, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. His Mass of Christian in part for the courageous battle she fought up until the very end. Roxann R. Rollinger was born Jan.

28, 1954, in Mitchell, S.D. to Hel-muth and Lorraine (Ba-ney) Hartman. Growing up her family lived in Mitchell, S.D., Billings, and then Sioux Falls. She attended Washington High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Gene Rollinger, on May 26, 1973, in Sioux Falls.

Together they started Gene Rollinger Construction, Inc. in 1985 where she worked from home as Vice-President and Secretary until her health declined to the point where she could no longer work. Roxi enjoyed working from home and relished the opportunity to care for her family and take care of the home. She especially enjoyed caring for her home, taking care Van Dam, Natalie Van Dam and Alison Martin. Interment will be in the St.

Mary Cemetery. Military Rites were provided by the Dell Rapids American Legion Firing Squad. Taps was played by Alison Martin. Visitation was at Kahler Funeral Home with a Christian Wake. To leave condolences please visit www.kahlerfh.com.

Nick J. Van Dam was born on Nov. 20, 1928, at Dell Rapids, S.D. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, seeing service in Japan and Korea with the Combat Engineers.

He married JoAnn Beaner at St. Joseph Church, Wellington on May 28, 1957. He went to work for John Mor-rell and Co. and retired in 1991. He then drove school bus for the Dell Rapids School District for 18 years.

He was a Life Member of the Dell Rapids American Legion Post, of which he was a past Commander. He was also a member of the Post's Color Guard and Firing Squad. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. He was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Dell Rapids Sportsmen's Club.

Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Catherine; his brother, Gerald and his sister, Helena Kriens. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his two sons, Floyde (Judy) of Montrose, S.D., and Gerald (Jodene) of New Richmond, his two daughters, Bonnie (Michael) Levin of Denver, and Lois (Tom) Martin of Little Canada, his eight granddaughters, one grandson, and seven great grandchildren; his sister, Ethel Ossefoort of Luverne, and his brother, Joseph of Dell Rapids. Burial was Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids.
