She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Floyd "Glenn" Wheeler; and a sister, Dorothy Thompson. To view the full obituary, go to Pat Koets, 72 Private family services for Pat Koets, 72, of Garretson, were held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, with burial in New Wood lawn Cemetery, Pip estone, Minn. Mrs. Koets died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at her home.

Pat was born to Floyd and Nola (Chisum) Wheeler on April 10, 1941 in rural Coolidge, Ariz. She married Eldon Koets on April 6, 1959 in Pipestone. Eldon died unexpectedly on Dec. 22, 2000. She is survived by three daughters, Deb (Mike) Stasny of Shoreview, Alyce (Paul) Stifter of Maplewood, and Sherry Koets of Sioux Falls; two grandchildren, Alec and Rachel Stifter; stepmother, Ruth Wheeler of Riverside, brother, Billy Wheeler of Don was preceded in death by his spouse, Lila; his parents, Alexander and Lena; his sisters Inez Ose 11 and Elsie Liesinger; and his brothers Raymond and Robert.

Don is survived by his daughters, Pam (Ron) Me land of Brandon, S.D., Patti Holey of Maple Grove, and Peggy Wadman of Champlin, his brother, Laynard (Jean) Friske of Hartford; his grandchildren Alex (Shannon) Me land of Fargo, N.D., L. Cpl. Sean Wadman USMC and Connor Wadman of Champlin; and his nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held May 30 at Miller Funeral Home, Hartford Chapel with burial at the Hartford Cemetery. Donald G.

Friske, 87 Donald Gottfried Friske (known as Bud to his family), 87, passed away May 28, 2013, at Good Samaritan Luther Manor Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was born on Feb. 21,1926, near Hartford, S.D. to Alexander and Lena (Kramer) Friske. Don grew up on the family farm outside Hartford Humboldt.

He joined the US Army in 1944 and served in WWII. Don achieved the rank of Army sergeant. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he worked as a cement mason until his retirement in 1993. Don married Lila J. McKee on March 15, 1951, in Luverne, Minn.

They were happily married for 12 at his house, the houses of his children or anywhere else he found he was needed. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's athletic events and programs. His "whistle" was legendary, setting him apart from most other fans and for summoning home his beloved. He enjoyed times of hunting, fishing, baseball "catches" and discussing history. He served his profession well, giving of himself countless times for his patrons and was "always there" when anything was needed.

We are blessed and grateful to have shared his presence in our lives. Having enjoyed his life and his heartfelt laughter were his, wife, Barbara; his children, daughters-in-law and grandchildren: Christopher and Robbin and their children Alexandra, Keeghan, Kai ley and Mason, of Sioux Falls; Matthew and Carrie and their children Ashby, Ainsley, Abrielle and Alijah of Wausa, formerly of Brookings; Jonathan and Jackie and their daughter Anika, of Sioux Falls; Stepchildren Timothy and Janet Emery and their children Adam, Alexander, Brooke and Sydney, of Burnsville, Christina and Ousman Jobe and their children Samba and Saloum, Brooklyn Park, and Daniel Emery of Oregon. Bob, as he was fondly known to family and friends, was admitted to Sanford Hospital for worsening pulmonary problems. It was later determined that he suffered from pulmonary fibrosis, the same condition that took his father, brother and various uncles. He ultimately succumbed after a brief battle and has moved on to Christ's gentle embrace. A memorial service was held Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Garretson.

Bob Nelson was born April 29, 1939, in Garret-son, S.D. to George Emmett and Gertrude Nelson. He was raised with his family and brother Roily in Garretson, where he excelled in various activities including athletics, music and academics at Garretson High School, graduating in 1957. After high school graduation, he attended Drake University, where he completed his bachelor's degree in pharmacy. He ultimately returned to Garretson, where he purchased and continued as the third generation to manage the Johnson Drug Co.

On June 25, 1963, he was married to Mary Susan Eitreim at Zion Lutheran Church in Garret-son. This marriage resulted with a family of three children: Christopher, Matthew and Jonathan. Jim had his own construction business from 1952-1958. He farmed after moving to the Wall Lake area, and he worked for the Sioux Falls postal service from 1958-1971. Jim was a member of St. George Catholic Church, a life member of the Hartford American Legion, a life member of the National Association of Mail Carriers and a member of the organization of retired CCC. He loved his life and especially the "Family Stuff." He always was ready for family to visit and loved to have his children and grandchildren around.

He loved them with a love that will never die. When he and Mom and the family would sit around the dinner table, Jim was known to say many times with a huge smile on his face, "Jerry, look what we have created." With a loving patience and tenderness, he cared for our mother during her courageous fight with cancer. He left us just in time to celebrate a granddaughter's birthday with his beloved wife. Michael Cemetery in Sioux Falls. James Daniel Irvine was born March 29, 1921. He was the third of seven children born to Ralph Daniel and Hanora Mary Phelps Irvine. He was born on a farm near Montrose, S.D. Jim went to country grade school.

He attended high school at Lyons, Winfred and Hartford S.D., graduating from Hartford in 1938. The summer after graduation, he worked in the Civilian Conservation Core at the Horse Creek Camp in the Black Hills. He worked in the Sheridan Pactola Lake areas. There are several plaques in the Black Hills noting their contributions. He worked for many farmers as a young man.

In 1941, he started working for John Morrell and Company in Sioux Falls, S.D. this is where he met his future wife. He joined the Navy in 1943. After six months, he received a medical discharge for injuries he had received as a youth when a horse fell on him. He returned to Morrell's after his discharge from the service.

On June 19, 1944, Jim married the love of his life, Geraldine (Jerry) Ellen Molseed at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Sioux Falls. They made their home in Sioux Falls, where they operated a hotel and bar business. In 1951, they moved to West Acres, just west of Sioux GARAGE A Moving In and Clearing Out! Bob Nelson civic and business duties in Garretson, where he served as city councilor and eventually mayor for a number of years. His pharmaceutical profession was central to his State Board of Pharmacy affiliation. He was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities as teacher and deacon, as well as a variety of civic-oriented endeavors. He carried the family business into its 96th year before closing its doors due to the changing times. Later in life, he was married to Barbara Emery of Luverne, and they continued their lives together in the presence of her children, Timothy, Daniel and Christina.

He held various pharmacist positions over the remaining years, where he finished his career in Parker, S.D., ultimately retiring in 2010. He often reminisced of the "small town" feeling and how it brought back so many good memories and ability to establish friendships. He was an accomplished wood turner, completing many award-winning pieces. He always enjoyed having a "project" sen, Brandon, on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Grandparents are Mike and Julie Brown of Ramsey, formerly of Brandon, and Mike and Barb Hansen of Brandon.
